At our wits end

Lately Blake has driven us to our breaking point. Blake has decided that he loves to stay up really late, and by really late, I mean 11 p.m. He has done this for two weeks now and we usually end up battling him each night to get him into bed. We do his bedtime routine at about 9 or 9:30 and it goes well, then Blake decides to get out of his room repeatedly until about 10:30 or 11:00. This past week Joe and I decided to stop fighting it and let him do his thing. Now we turn off all the lights and let Blake roam the halls. Occasionally we tell him to go back in his room and he usually does for a little bit, then he always comes back. Last night he was right outside our door while we were watching TV. It was 10:30 and we realized he was outside our door. I told Blake to go to bed and he said "Ok, good night" and went to bed. Maybe stopping the battles is making bedtime more tolerable for all of us...
I think I just have to come to grips that my son is a night owl and can't fall asleep until really late. I think though that if he is staying up this late at this young of an age, how late will he stay up till when he's a teenager.
For all the trouble Blake gives us, he better be a dang good teenager!

That's one thing I always stuck with was an early bedtime, since I was pretty much done for by 8pm! Fortunately, all my kids did well with this--on stay up nights bedtime is 9pm, or 10at the latest but in their room and quiet by 9pm. I don't think I would handle it well with a night owl!! Good luck!!

Just tell him to give us a call and we'll chat. We're always up.
